Arizona Cardinals from A to Z: Jon Halapio
By Scott Allen
Player profile of G Jon Halapio as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st
As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player. I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.
We go from A to Z and continue with G Jon Halapio. Halapio was a sixth-round draft pick (179 overall) of the New England Patriots in 2014. This is his first season with the Cardinals.

2014 season: Jon Halapio was drafted out of the University of Florida by the Patriots last season but never made it to the final roster. He was released at the end of training camp last August. He was signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad on December 17, 2014 and then to a future contract in January after the season. He was released in May and the Cardinals signed him about three weeks after on June 5th.
2015 season projection: Halapio is one of those guys that has good size. He is listed at 320 lbs and 6’4. Does he have the talent though to crack the depth the Cardinals have built on the line? Maybe. He did make it almost all the way through camp with the Patriots and made it on to the Broncos practice squad but never made it to minicamp with them. I think it is going to be tough sledding for him to make this team.
Halapio does have big game experience against some guys that have made it in the NFL. The SEC will do that for you. So, I don’t dismiss Halapio as a possibility but the depth the Cardinals have created on the offensive line may tell the story for Halapio.
