2014 season: Harnish spent time with two teams in last season. He was with the Indianapolis Colts all through the offseason and through camp, getting released at the of training camp. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings to the practice squad. He was placed on the active roster for one day before going back to the practice squad. He was released in November.
2015 season projection: He has a legitimate shot at the number three quarterback. The Northern Illinois product has some experience with coach Bruce Arians as the Colts were the team that drafted him in 2012 when Arians was assistant and an interim head coach. He will be competing with Logan Thomas and Phillip Sims for the third spot. It’s a complete up for grabs spot.
Harnish may have been Mr. Irrelevant in 2012 being the last pick of the 2012 NFL Draft but he is anything but here in Arizona. His job will have a lot of relevance. We saw what the lack of experience did for the Cardinals last season at the third quarterback spot. Harnish doesn’t have any regular season experience but he’s bounced around enough to be able to gain a lot of knowledge and has experience with Arians. That could give him the edge he needs over Thomas and Sims.
