Arizona Cardinals A to Z: Harold Jones-Quartey
By Scott Allen
Player profile of S Harold Jones-Quartey as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st
As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player. I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.
We go from A to Z and continue with S Harold Jones-Quartey. Jones-Quartey is an undrafted rookie from Findlay.
2014 season: Jones-Quartey had 105 tackles for Findlay University in 2014. He averaged 9.5 tackles per game last season. He had 1.5 sacks and had no interceptions in 2014 though he did have four career interceptions at Findlay in his four seasons.
2015 season projection: He won a spot on the 90-man roster after a tryout in May but I wouldn’t look for him to make the regular season 53-man roster. There is too much depth at safety for the Cardinals to be able to keep him. I’m not even sure he could make the Cardinals practice roster given the depth. I don’t rule anything out when it comes to the 10-man practice squad but I think he could be one of those guys playing for other eyes outside of Arizona. He must have something though if he was good enough to earn a spot as an undrafted free agent after a tryout.
Looking at his career at Findlay it is clear he has skills. I just don’t think he has a chance here because of the depth as I stated. He is an undrafted product out of a NCAA Division II school. Now, guys like that can make it certainly and have but eventually depth will hurt his chances here in Arizona.
