Arizona Cardinals: Everyone in good shape on day one

The Arizona Cardinals reported for camp on Friday at University of Phoenix Stadium

The Arizona Cardinals had a very good day one if you ask coach Bruce Arians.  Friday was reporting day in Glendale and also conditioning day.  The good news?  Everyone passed the conditioning test on Friday.

Coach Bruce Arians said everyone passed their tests and according to azcardinals.com, he said that “there was nobody even close” to failing.  Again, this is great news.  There always seems to be that one guy who comes in out of shape.  This year that was not the case.

Players Arians singled out on Friday were cornerback Patrick Peterson, linebacker Kevin Minter, and tight ends Darren Fells and Troy Niklas.  He indicated that they all looked great.  He also singled out nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu who last year came in out of shape and lost his spot on the depth chart because of it.  This year he looked much better.  Even defensive end Calais Campbell noticed how well he looked.

To me the fact that everyone came into camp in great shape tells me everyone took their off-season conditioning and nutrition seriously.  I have a feeling the everyone felt like they left some work undone from last season.  This was a point Arians even pointed to after the first day.

There, he said it.  Nothing else needs to be said about what the Cardinals expect.  They want the ring.  They felt like they were close last season and had they been healthy who knows what would have happened?  So, day one couldn’t have come fast enough.

Haven’t we all?  Stay healthy and the sky is the limit for this team.  I’m not saying they will win it all.  There is just as much competition as any other year.  Nothing is a cakewalk, even in “Camp Cupcake” as Arians calls it.  In a tough NFC West, everything will be earned.
