The Arizona Cardinals open camp with their first practice at 2pm on Saturday

The Arizona Cardinals hit the field for practice for the first time on Saturday afternoon. As the camp progresses over the next four weeks, there are five different positions what will see the most heated battles for roster spots for the regular season.

Here are the five positions thought to have the best battles you’ll see this August.  Almost every position has a battle of some sort but these five are above all else.

The battle is Bobby Massie vs. D.J. Humphries.  Humphries is a first round pick.  You know the Cardinals are going to give him every chance to succeed and possibly start.  Massie improved in 2014 and seems to be slowly working his way up but as I talked about earlier this week, Massie still isn’t consistent enough that he’ll just be given the position.

Massie enters his fourth season.  In this battle neither guy is in danger of not making the team but rather this is a fight for playing time.  Massie should be a star by now but we still wait for him to really break out.  Maybe this is the push he needed?

Humphries got off to a slow start in mini-camp but now it’s August.  It’s time to show the Cardinals why they picked him and why they were so high on him.  Something tells me this battle isn’t settled completely in training camp.
