Player profile of QB Carson Palmer as Arizona Cardinals training camp continues

As we have reached the second week of Arizona Cardinals training camp, we continue our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with OLB Carson Palmer.  Palmer enters his third season with the Cardinals, 13th in the NFL.

2014 season:  Palmer only started six games in 2014.  He went 6-0 in those starts.  It is amazing the Cardinals still found a way to win 11 games last season.  In those six games, Palmer threw for 1,626 yards with 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions.  His season was cut short on November 9th in a 31-14 victory over the St. Louis Rams with a torn ACL.

2015 season projection: If Palmer can stay healthy, the sky is the limit.  If he can get back to the way he played in between two big injuries last season, there is no way the Cardinals should win less than 10 or 11 games, even with the more difficult schedule this season.  If he plays, then I see him putting up huge numbers, numbers like 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

As you can see, I am not the only one expecting big things out of Palmer this season.  I think fans were excited about what they saw out of Plamer not only when he went the 6-0 last season with just the three interceptions but the last ten games of 2013 as well when the Cardinals went 7-3.  Palmer is 13-3 as a Cardinals starter.  I don’t care who you are, that’s good.  Like him or not because of his history with injury and interceptions, he is getting the job done here.  Like everyone, I will be holding my breath in his one series this Saturday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.
