Arizona Cardinals from A to Z: Frostee Rucker
By Scott Allen
Player profile of DE Frostee Rucker as Arizona Cardinals training camp continues
As we have almost reached the end of Arizona Cardinals training camp, we continue our annual look at the roster player by player. I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.
We go from A to Z and continue with DE Frostee Rucker. Rucker enters his 10th NFL season, third with the Cardinals.
2014 season: Rucker played in 15 games last season for the Cardinals, starting seven of them. He made a total of 24 tackles, five of them for sacks. He also had one pass defensed and two forced fumbles.
2015 season: Rucker is currently first on the defensive tackle depth chart. Officially listed at defensive end, Rucker can move between positions without a hitch. Cardinals fans, including myself, will be looking for a big season from Rucker. He can get after the ball. Five sacks in mostly backup role in 2014 says a lot.
Rucker could make some Cardinals fans forget about Darnell Dockett. Even if Dockett were still here in Arizona, chances are Rucker would still be pushing for the starting spot. Rucker has shown a lot of potential but will be pushed by Ed Stinson and Matt Shaughnessy.
He is in the second-year of a two-year contract this season so that could also give Rucker motivation. He last started all 16 games as a member of the Cleveland Browns in 2012. He started 11 games for the Cincinnati Bengals the year before that in 2011.
