Player profile of C Lyle Sendlein as Arizona Cardinals prepare to wind down preseason

As we have reached the end of Arizona Cardinals training camp and just two games of the preseason remaining, we continue our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with C Lyle Sendlein.  Sendlein begins his ninth season with the Cardinals.

2014 season: Sendlein had a decent 2014 campaign.  He was one of the more consistent offensive linemen for the Cardinals last season.  However it initially wasn’t good enough to avoid being cut in the offseason in favor of A.Q. Shipley.  Sendlein had a high asking price in free agency.

2015 season: After Shipley and Ted Larsen failed to nail down the center position early on in camp, the Cardinals re-signed Sendlein and Sendlein is currently the favorite to win the starting job, although Shipley is still officially listed first on the depth chart.

Sendlein still has to perform well in Sunday night’s game against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday Night Football.  I’m not sure how much playing time he will get on Thursday against the Denver Broncos yet?  I have to believe as I said though that at this point it is Sendlein’s job to lose.  Either way it will be nice to have a couple of guys who should be able to get the job done snapping the ball to quarterback Carson Palmer.
