Arizona Cardinals: NFC West round up

The Arizona Cardinals weren’t the only winners in the NFC West this weekend

The Arizona Cardinals defeated the New Orleans Saints 31-19 on Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium as we all know.  However the other NFC West teams were in action as well as three of the four won.  The only loser was the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC West matchup against the St. Louis Rams.

The other winner was the San Francisco 49ers.  They defeated the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football after a very good second half offensively and defensively.

St. Louis Rams

Sam Bradford who?  Shaun King who? The Rams have likely found a long-term quarterback in former University of Arizona product Nick Foles.  Foles had himself a very nice game on Sunday in the 34-31 overtime victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Foles was as accurate as Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was.  He went 18-27 for 297 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.  Impressive against what is supposed to be one of the better defenses in the NFL.  Noe the Rams may be getting some welcome but very cautious news for their upcoming game against the Washington Redskins.

He may not play on Sunday but it sure sounds like he will be back sooner than originally thought.  Last week some said he may not see his first action until after week six.

San Francisco 49ers

They had a nice night on Monday night.  I should correct that and say nice second half.  They played a very sloppy first half against the Vikings.  However running back Carlos Hyde took over the game and went on to rush for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

Running back Reggie Bush had to leave the game in the first quarter because of a calf injury.  Is anyone surprised by that?

Next up for the Niners is a trip back east to play the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Like the Cardinals, they will have a 10:00 a.m. kickoff on Sunday morning.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks will be alright after their 34-31 overtime loss to the Rams.  Head coach Pete Carroll says the onside kick in overtime was a mistake.

Also making news was Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s mom of all people. She called for the job of offensive corrdinator Darrell Bevell. Ridiculous.

Honestly folks, you can’t make this stuff up.  Now they head for a Sunday Night Football matchup at the Green Bay Packers
