Arizona Cardinals: Fitz, Johnson Earn Weekly NFC Honors

After an offensive explosion on Sunday, two players earn weekly NFC honors
Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson have been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week and the Special Teams Player of the Week respectively. Fitz accounted or three touchdowns on Sunday against the Bears and Johnson for two in the 48-23 win over the winless Chicago team.
For Fitzgerald, this is the first regular season game with three touchdowns, and only his second game overall after the NFC Championship Game in the 2008 season. David Johnson, a rookie, has three touchdowns total in two games after his game sealing catch and run in Week 1 against New Orleans, he took the opening kickoff in Week 2 108 yards to the house. Later in the game he added on a rushing touchdown.
There is also a very interesting piece over at Peter King’s MMQB about Larry Fitzgerald’s move inside to the slot from the outside and how he sees himself as a more versatile player in Bruce Arians’ offense. Fitzgerald and quarterback Carson Palmer have been on the same page through two games.
David Johnson, on the other hand, becomes the first NFL player to score a TD via kick return, rush and pass in his first two games. Not bad for a rookie who’s only touched the ball a dozen times in his career. Keep working at a 25% TD clip and you’re likely to get the rock a whole lot more.
