Arizona Cardinals Week 5 Friday Injury Report
By Erich Becker
A week ending look at the Cardinals and Lions game from an injury standpoint
With the week ending today and the Cardinals leaving for Detroit tomorrow (because of the afternoon start, even in Detroit, 4:05 EST, 1:05 MST, the Cardinals will only travel a day prior to the game) the injury report as been released.
Receiver J.J. Nelson participating in practice in a limited fashion. Nelson is coming back from a shoulder injury. Other Limited players were Darren Fells, Justin Bethel, Frostee Rucker and Chris Clemons. Full participants include Andre Ellington who is for sure, for real, this time, going to play this week LaMarr Woodley, Rashad Johnson and Alani Fua.
The Cardinals look much healthier this season than in years past when they lost over 100 man-games to injury, including the starting QBs that precipitated Drew Stanton starting against the Lions last season, a game in which Arizona won.
The Lions are in pretty bad shape coming off a short week.
Out Players include:
- Larry Warford
- Eric Ebron
- Travis Lewis
- Naloti Ngata
- Joique Bell
Ziggy Ansah, Sam Martin, Brandon Pettigrew and James Ihedigbo were all limited, the same status as Wednesday. Full participants were Rasean Mathis, Deandrew Levy, Corey Robinson and Lance Moore.
The Cardinals are getting a desperate Lions team who sees their season slipping away on a batted ball. With Green Bay undefeated, the division may be out of reach already, and the NFC is strong this year with teams like Carolina, Atlanta and Arizona all with none or one loss. There’s reason to panic in Detroit, but the players have to be playing for something. After some mental errors and undisciplined play plagued them Monday night, can they keep it together for pride?
The Cardinals and Lions kick off at 1:05PM MST on Sunday, one of only three afternoon games.
