The Arizona Cardinals receiving core could take a hit on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns
Last week against the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals receiver John Brown was able to play through his hamstring injury, one that has been nagging him for a couple of weeks now. This week against the Cleveland Browns, it will be a game time decision.
Brown still managed to score a touchdown in the 26-18 Monday night victory. If Brown can’t go, the Cardinals should still be able to fill the void.
If Brown can’t go, look for either Brittan Golden or J.J. Nelson. Nelson, injured against the Chicago Bears back in week two, has been a healthy scratch since returning from the injury. Golden has been mainly a special teams player. Neither player has a reception this season.
Of course the Cardinals have other weapons. Look for running back Andre Ellington to be used more as a receiving weapon out of the backfield. Then you have the sure hands of receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. Floyd has played well the last couple of weeks. Floyd had a touchdown last week and one taken away from him two weeks ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If Brown can’t go, it could also mean a heavy dose of Chris Johnson in the running game. Johnson is second in the NFL in rushing yardage with 567 yards. He has three 100-yard running games already.
One of the go-to guy’s for quarterback Carson Palmer though has been Brown. Behind Fitz’s 59 targets, Brown is second on the team with 51 targets. He had 10 catches for 196 yards against the Steelers.
So, it could go either way Cardinals fans. We’ll wait and see what the inactives list says here soon.
