The Arizona Cardinals have a number of players on this week’s injury list

With the Arizona Cardinals preparing to play the San Francisco 49ers this afternoon, it is probably a good time to get all the bruises and bang ups out of the way.  The Cardinals have an injury list a mile long.  Some will play on Sunday, some won’t.

You won’t get any sympathy from the 49ers but then again the Cardinals don’t need any.  Even with the injured players the Cardinals find themselves huge favorites against the 49ers Sunday afternoon in Santa Clara, California.

The best news of the day so far for the Cardinals is that receiver Michael Floyd, who missed last week’s victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, will play this afternoon.  Injured receivers Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown are also likely to be active Sunday.

The Cardinals will be missing some key players today however.  Defensive tackles Frostee Rucker and Cory Redding have both been ruled out of the 49ers game.  Defensive tackle Ed Stinson is questionable.  He did not practice until Friday this week.

Another key defensive player could miss today’s game as well.  Safety Deone Bucannon has a good chance of being inactive come this afternoon.  However cornerback Patrick Peterson, who is nursing an injured ankle, will play.  He missed Thursday’s practice but that was due to the birth of his child.

With the injuries, nose tackle Xavier Williams should be active for the second consecutive week after being inactive for the first nine games.  Also, guard Jonathan Cooper should return after missing last week’s game as well.

If there is a week to get some injuries and subsequent rest out of the way it is this week.  Next week’s game in St. Louis could be a more physical one and the Rams already have one game up on the Cardinals this season.  The home stretch is upon us and the Cardinals will need to be as healthy as possible come January.
