The Arizona Cardinals have started to pile injuries on their injury report as they prepare for the St. Louis Rams
Just when you thought the Arizona Cardinals were looking a lot healthier than last season, they’ve become susceptible to injury once again. After defeating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, it was learned this week running back Chris Johnson was basically done for the season. He went on injured reserve with a return designation.
That return designation will only allow Johnson to return if the Cardinals return to San Francisco for Super Bowl 50. They also lost running back Andre Ellington to turf toe. Then they lost cornerback Jerraud Powers to a strained calf. Neither Ellington or Powers practiced Thursday. Both are likely going to miss Sunday’s game.
The injury list for the Cardinals Thursday continued to be a long one. Outside of Ellington and Powers, there were nine others listed with some sort of injury.
WR Larry Fitzgerald
Injury: Ankle
Practice status: Limited
Fitz continues to work on an ankle he originally hurt on November 1st against the Cleveland Browns.
DT Cory Redding
Injury: Ankle
Practice status: DNP
Redding missed practice again on Thursday. It appears unlikely he will play this Sunday.
DT Frostee Rucker
Injury: Ankle
Practice status: DNP
Rucker also appears unlikely to play on Sunday after missing practice for the second day in a row. He certainly will be missed in St. Louis.
WR John Brown
Injury: Hamstring
Practice status: Limited
Brown likely will have this status the rest of the season, so get used to it. He should play this Sunday in St. Louis though.
WR Michael Floyd
Injury: Hamstring
Practice status: Limited
Floyd is also likely to have this status for awhile. He wasn’t too involved last Sunday in San Francisco but I think the more time passes, he will see more snaps on the field in the game.
S Tony Jefferson
Injury: Thigh
Practice status: Limited
Unless something changes, I don’t suspect he will miss the game on Sunday. It will be worth watching to see what happens Friday though. He’s another guy the Cardinals can’t lose in an important divisional game.
DT Ed Stinson
Injury: Groin
Practice status: Full
After being limited on Wednesday and missing last Sunday’s game it appears he is headed in the right direction. It is a great sign that he practiced in full on Thursday.
G Jonathan Cooper
Injury: Knee
Practice status: Full
He also missed last Sunday’s victory but practicing in full is a good sign. Question is, how much does he play even if he is active?
CB Patrick Peterson
Injury: Ankle
Practice status: Full
Peterson will be fine. He was on last week’s list with this injury as well and played well in San Francisco.
