The Arizona Cardinals had a number of players who had excellent seasons

The Arizona Cardinals still have a lot of work to do no doubt.  However looking back on the regular season, there are a number of players who had great contributions to their 13-3 record and NFC West Championship.

These are the top five players this season in my opinion though.  It wasn’t an easy task to come up with the top five.  As many as 20-25 players could have been considered.

5. David Johnson

What can you say about David Johnson?  A lot is what.  Johnson took over after running backs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington went down during the 2015 season.  Early on he had a hard time hanging on to the ball but by the last month of the season coach Bruce Arians said he was no longer a rookie.

Johnson made rookie mistakes early, missing blocks and fumbling but he more than made up for it later in the season.  He finished the season with 581 rushing yards, 487 receiving yards, and 599 return yards and a total of 13 touchdowns.

He scored a touchdown by way of rushing, receiving, and kick return in the first two weeks of the season.  His 108-yard kickoff return against the Chicago Bears set a franchise-record.  He didn’t do much the next several weeks as Chris Johnson took over but down the stretch no one on offense other than quarterback Carson Palmer was as valuable to the team as Johnson was.
