A position by position recap of the 2015 Arizona Cardinals

As we close out the 2015 season for the Arizona Cardinals, it is time to look at each position on the team and determine who may stay, who may go, and what the future holds.  As we look here at cornerbacks, we are safe to assume this will be an area the Cardinals will look to improve on in 2016.

The Cardinals secondary was left this season with guys who could make plays but not consistently.  The Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers exposed the Cardinals corners in the two playoff games.

Justin Bethel

Before the 2015 season started it looked like Bethel would push for a starting spot after the departure of Antonio Cromartie.  In the end, Bethel started five games at corner.

The good: Bethel had his first pick-six of his career against the San Francisco 49ers in week three.  Many thought this was the beginning of something special.  It may end up still being that way.

The bad: Bethel didn’t pick off another pass until the Green Bay game in week 16.  In fact he was picked on a lot by Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  Bethel made eight tackles that afternoon, his most in a single game in 2015.

The ugly: He continued to get picked on in the playoffs.  He made some plays but overall he showed why he was picked on.

Bethel is a stud on special teams, we all know that.  However his play at corner has left a lot of desire for improvement.  I think it will happen.  He is a free agent but I expect he will be re-signed.
