Jerraud Powers

Powers won the starting spot at corner over Bethel in training camp.  I thought it was the right call back then and still think that way after the season.  However, that doesn’t mean Powers didn’t struggle at times.  He certainly had his share of tribulations.

The good: He started 13 games and by far his best game was at the Detroit Lions when he had 12 tackles, 10 of them solo.  He was all over the field that day.

The bad: That Lions game accounted for nearly one-fourth of his tackle production for the season.  He only had one interception in 2015 and it was in the same game Bethel had his pick-six.

The ugly: He really seemed to tail off towards the end of the season.  He was getting beat and wasn’t making plays.  He had just one pass defensed in the last three weeks of the season.

Powers could be a guy on the move.  We shall see.  His is a free-agent.  Did he do enough to garner another contract from the team?  It all depends on your point of view.  From my point of view, he’s a good backup but I believe they need someone strong in the starting slot.  My best guess is the Cardinals will re-sign him.
