One question about the Arizona Cardinals in 2016 has been answered quickly
Before I could even touch upon the topic, the Arizona Cardinals have taken care of it for me. They have re-signed the tight end that they should have. Darren Fells has re-upped with the Cardinals for the next year. He had a breakout season in 2015.
After showing flashes of potential in 2014, he took off and became the Cardinals number one tight end in 2015. He lead all Cardinals tight ends with 21 receptions in 2015.
Fells scooped up 311 yards receiving in those 21 receptions and found the end zone three times.
Fells is also a pretty darn good blocker as seen in the clip above against the Carolina Panthers last week in the NFC Championship Game. It was originally thought Fells would back Jermaine Gresham up but Gresham’s early injury issues and the emergence of Fells changed that thought. Wrapping up the exclusive-rights free-agent early in the offseason was key.
With Fells back and then Gresham and Niklas and let’s not forget Gerald Christian who looked good in preseason before getting hurt along with Ifeanyi Momah, who was on the verge of making the squad before getting injured late in preseason it should be a competitive training camp at the position. They may not need to go out and look for another tight end in the draft in April.
