Joe Jacoby

Here is a guy I’m very surprised isn’t in the Pro Football Hall of Fame yet.  While I was no fan of the Washington Redskins as a kid, I always marveled at the “Hogs”.  Jacoby spent all 13 seasons he played with the Redskins.  He played in 170 games, starting in 148.

The Hogs mentality was a real thing.  It was a term coined by then Redskins assistant coach and former Arizona Cardinals head coach Joe Bugel. Bugel got these guys working and Jacoby was the amongst the best of them.  I was a ball boy for the Cardinals after Bugel left Washington for Phoenix.  Although he was the head coach he was never far away from his offensive line and I could see why Jacoby turned into one of the best in the game.

It has been 23 years since Jacoby retired from the NFL.  It is time he gets in.
