NFL free agency is open for business on March 9th at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time

When the clock strikes 2:00 p.m. in Arizona on March 9th, the Arizona Cardinals will likely have their list of targeted free agents ready and their agents on speed dial.  The 2016 NFL league year starts with free agency on March 9th.

If you have your calendar handy, you’ll see that is only three weeks away.  Here are 10 players the Cardinals should target in this year’s free agency.  I would say the greatest needs at pass rusher, safety, offensive line, and linebacker.

Olivier Vernon, DE

Vernon had 7.5 sacks with the Miami Dolphins in 2015.  He certainly has age going for him.  He is only 26 years old.  The biggest question will be will the Dolphins let him go?  There’s a chance.

He is a force against the run as well as a decent pass rusher.  The Cardinals were lacking a decent pass rush most of the season in 2015.  Vernon would be a nice compliment on the defensive line to what the Cardinals already have.

The Cardinals will address the defensive line but how much will they be willing to spend in free agency at the position?  Best guess is a lot.  I would not be surprised to see the Cardinals add more than one player on the defensive line.
