Matt Barkley

I do not think he ultimately gets the starting gig once Palmer is gone but having survived the roster for the entire 2015 season (the Cardinals could have waived him before week six of the 2015 season and not lost a draft pick) that tells me the Cardinals like something they see.

Of course the knock on Barkley has been his arm strength.  We know Arians likes to throw the deep ball.  However as I said, it says something to me he is still around on the roster.  He didn’t play at all in 2015 after getting some playing time his first couple of seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.  He’s been able to sit and study Palmer.  There is a lot to be said about that as well.

Ultimately Barkley will get his chance to show he can be that guy.  I just think there will be better options out there by the time his turn comes around.
