6. David Johnson’s 108-yard kickoff return against the Chicago Bears
On the game-opening kickoff rookie running back David Johnson put himself on the NFL map with a franchise-record 108-yard kickoff return against the Bears. He would later score on a touchdown run.
Combined with his touchdown reception against the New Orleans Saints in week one, he was the first player to score three touchdowns in three different ways (reception, rush, kickoff return) in the first two games of his NFL career. The Pro Football Hall of Fame came calling and got his jersey and shoes to show off the feat to NFL fans.
You couldn’t have asked for a better start to a career, not to mention the game itself in which the Cardinals routed the Bears 48-23. Johnson would struggle a bit with holding the ball early on in the season but by the fourth quarter of the season Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he was no longer a rookie and had learned to hold the ball better.
