Not a lot of scouts are talking about the young man from Angelo State, could be because of the lack of a NFL combine invite, or for the fact that Angelo State isn’t very publicized. There is just something that is so comforting about the development that the Arizona Cardinals like to do with small school prospects, and it makes it very fun for the average fan to be apart of the experience. Kyle Washington is one of those guys who is very talented, and with a little bit of help, the Angelo project could eventually become a centerpiece for the Cardinals offense.
Carson Palmer is obviously here to stay for the next year, maybe two at best, but the Cardinals could have an eye on the quarterback position this upcoming NFL draft. Don’t be surprised if the Angelo State prospect continues to grow on us throughout the NFL draft. He has a live arm, seems very accurate with the deep throws, makes great check-down throws, and seems very agile. With a lot of quarterbacks being mobile these days (golden age of the running quarterback), Kyle Washington has the physical tools to keep the play alive, and seems like a kid with plenty of speed in the open field. I get the sense of a Ben Roethlisberger, which Bruce Arians loves to have in his system.

I’m not here to say the kid is the say-all-do-all quarterback of the future for the Cardinals, but he does seem to eventually be the starter for a team who will take the time to develop his attributes. Kyle Washington is a big armed quarterback, although he does lead his receivers a little bit too much. He is a little bit skinny, could use a little bit of weight. He does come from Angelo State, so Washington is going to need sometime to learn an NFL system, a system that won’t try to jam-pack everything into the kid’s brain.
Other then that, Kyle Washington is the kind of player the Cardinals should be very intrigued with, although, I am sure that Steve Keim is already exploring every possible stone un-turned. This being such a developmental league (especially at the quarterback position), the Cardinals would be behooved to take on the successor of Carson Palmer.
