The Arizona Cardinals have had some great free agent signings over the last few years

Looking back on the Arizona Cardinals history, they were never a very attractive place to land if you were an NFL free agent.  Much of that culture changed after the 2005 season when the Cardinals moved into their new digs at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Starting with free agent running back Edgerrin James, the Cardinals have pretty much every year made a move in free agency that was eye-opening to many fans.  Some worked out, some didn’t.

Here are five guys that have worked for the Cardinals.  Now the Cardinals have a great stadium and a winning formula to work with.  Amazing how the times have changed.

Mike Iupati

The Cardinals landed a big fish in 2015 free agency.  He was ranked as the 4th-best free agent available by nfl.com in 2015.  He was also one of only two free agents that made the 2015 Pro Bowl with his new team.

Iupati was a little shaky at first no doubt.  Some of that had to do with an early injury but also some of that likely was due to being in a new situation and losing some time early on.  As the season wore on though, Iupati was back to his his run-stopping ways.

Iupati certainly paid off for the Cardinals.  It is rare for an offensive lineman to come in through free agency and produce like he did.  In the end he came as advertised.  We can only hope he can provide the same performance in 2016.  Staying healthy will go a long way in contributing to that.

Next: Just wait to October to sign them all
