Jared Veldheer

I mentioned how rare it was to find a good offensive lineman who produced for his new team in free agency.  Veldheer though is another exception to that rule.  Veldheer, who came over from the Oakland Raiders in 2014, has been protecting quarterback Carson Palmer’s blindside ever since.

Veldheer hasn’t been perfect by any stretch.  He has his moments for sure.  However he has been as consistent as any offensive lineman to have walked through the Cardinals front doors since the team moved to Arizona.  Of course he already had time protecting Palmer with the Raiders, so that helped too.

Veldheer is still just 28 years old.  There is a lot left in the tank for him.  He’ll likely get to spend a couple of seasons protecting the new franchise quarterback for the Cardinals as well once Palmer retires.
