David Johnson cemented his status as the Arizona Cardinals starting back after a tremendous rookie season.

With questions regarding Andre Ellington’s durability, the Cardinals  took a chance on a running back out of the University of Northern Iowa in the third round. It ended up being one of the best picks in the entire draft. David Johnson finished the season rushing for 581 yards and 8 touchdowns, while catching 36 passes for 457 yards and 4 touchdowns. Johnson tied for 2nd in the league for total touchdowns with 13, and finished 5th in kick return average with 27.2 yards per return.

Unfortunately, Johnson got snubbed out of a Rookie of the Year nomination. However, that shouldn’t dampen what was an excellent debut season for the young back. Excelled is the perfect word to describe what Johnson did in place of former starter Andre Ellington, and former All-Pro Chris Johnson. If 2015 was just a preview of what is to come, it’s exciting to wonder what David Johnson will do next year in his first full season as the starter. Let’s look at David Johnson’s top 3 plays of this season.
