The Arizona Cardinals got down to business with some of their players this week

Don’t wait till the bell rings, that seems to be the Arizona Cardinals motto as we head into free agency in March. With teams able to start negotiating with other teams players starting on Monday, the Cardinals started taking care of their own over the past two days.

Three of the five players who were offered this week were restricted free agents.  The one I’d like to see stay the most, Tony Jefferson, got offered a low tender. Here are the five players the Cardinals reached out to this week.

Tony Jefferson, safety

As I said, Jefferson got a low tender offer of $1.67 million per year.  Jefferson himself wasn’t sure what to make of it, at least that’s what it appeared to look like on Twitter.

That’s about the skinny of it.  Read into that as you wish.  However, the Cardinals gave the same offer to all three restricted free agents.  The Cardinals will have the right to match any other offers.

As for Jefferson, he had 78 tackles with two interceptions and two sacks in 2015.  The Cardinals do want to get taller at safety but at what expense?  I hope that Jefferson does return but there are other options if he doesn’t.
