Arizona Cardinals: 5 players who could surprise in camp
By Scott Allen
Durell Eskridge, S
The Cardinals also have a possible opening at safety. They have tendered Tony Jefferson but he has not accepted an offer from the team yet. He has until April 22nd. Even if he does accept, the fact that the Cardinals gave a low-ball offer means they aren’t completely settled on the position.
Someone like Eskridge could come in and spoil the party in the defensive secondary. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets in 2015 after the draft.
At Syracuse, he had five interceptions in 26 games over three seasons. One scouting report says he may only end up being a good special-teamer in the NFL though given his inconsistencies. He is tall at 6-3, which should please Arians. However his vertical wasn’t that great at the 2015 Scouting Combine.
