Kendall Fuller, Cornerback, Virginia Tech

With the addition of Chandler Jones, it is possible could look to beef up the secondary given Tyrann Mathieu missing time with his ACL injury and Jerraud Powers still being a free agent. A prospect that has been linked to the Cardinals in the first round is Kendall Fuller, brother of Chicago Bears cornerback, Kyle Fuller.

Fuller missed a majority of this past season, playing only 3 games as he tore his meniscus. Like Nkemdiche, Fuller has left much to be desired on the production. In his 28 career games, Fuller has only 7 career interceptions along with 120 total tackles.

A first team All-ACC selection in 2014, Fuller is labeled as a ball hawk by scouts. He possess the swagger and confidence to be the best defender on the field. He possesses quick feet which allowed him to make direct plays on the ball. He understands the game and is very coordinated on the field.

However, Fuller is not as physically gifted as other corners in this year’s draft. He lacks the speed to stay with receivers or chase them down in the open field. Another downside is that Fuller does not have field discipline and gets fooled easily and often bites on pump fakes which usually results in him get burned by opposing receivers.

Fuller could also prove to be a huge liability at the professional level as he gave up an average of 16.7 yards per catch in 2014. That won’t cut it in the NFL, and especially with Bruce Arians. With the Cardinals looking to maintain the level of play from its corners last year, it would be a much more fruitful idea to look elsewhere.
