The Arizona Cardinals have for a long time been a offensive team first, from the days of Jim Hart to Roy “the Jet-Stream” Green to countless Air Coryell moments, we saw the Terry Metcalf runs. I know, a lot of younger fans aren’t going to remember, but you do. Everyone remembers the unbelievable playoff performance the Cardinals had against the Cowboys, Wildcard against the Cowboys in 1998. Jake “the Snake” Plummer lead the team with two passing touchdowns. Kurt Warner was a cast-off, he made an unbelievable throw to Larry Fitzgerald in waning moments of Super Bowl XLIII, and we all remember that deep run like it was yesterday.

Why bring up old Cardinals history when we are all trying to look towards the future, because not all moments are contributed the way you want to see it. Everyone remembers the tremendous offensive plays, no one seems to go back and say “Wow, the Cardinals had a great defensive team”, no, it’s always “Wow, Kurt Warner and Jake Plummer and Jim Hart are Cardinals legends”. Right, so what of those defensive guys?

Kwamie Lassiter had a career year in 1998, intercepting the ball 4 times in one game, while posting the most interceptions in a year, 8. Does anyone remember him? Nope. Karlos Dansby made a game-tying interception of Ben Roethlisberger in the Super Bowl, giving the Cardinals a chance to score inside the two yard line (also a guy who was actually having a Pro-Bowl year, but was snubbed). Roger Wehrli was an unbelievable defensive back who was accountable for the Cardiac Cards keeping then Cowboys and Redskins under wraps.
