Ottis Anderson

A lot of people, especially those that live in Arizona, will remember him as a member of the New York Giants from 1986-1992.  However once upon a time, Anderson was a star for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Known to most as “O.J.”, he was drafted by the Cardinals in 1979.  He played for the franchise until his move to the Giants in 1986.

Anderson is still the Cardinals all-time leading rusher with 7,999 yards.  In the end he could be eclipsed if current players like David Johnson stay healthy for a long time but no one has come close to beating that number since.

He was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1979 with the Cardinals.  He also was First-Team All-Pro in 1979 and Second-Team All-Pro in 1980.

He rushed for over 1,000 yards in five of his seasons as a Cardinal.  His career-high was his rookie campaign in 1979 with 1,605 yards rushing.

Anderson rushed for 81 career touchdowns but more than half of them were with the Cardinals. He scored 46 of his 81 career touchdowns with St. Louis.
