The Arizona Cardinals will have fight for last couple of receivers

We pretty much know who the receivers for the Arizona Cardinals will be numbers one through five.  The Cardinals are set there.

Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, John Brown, Jaron Brown, and J.J. Nelson seemingly have the top five spots, although with Jaron Brown you never know.  However there are some other guys who might have a say in that before all is said and done.

The Cardinals also have Brittan Golden and Jaxon Shipley fighting for a spot.  Do one of them slip in as a sixth receiver or both fifth and sixth and see Jaron Brown depart?  Who knows?

I do know this, both Golden and Shipley won’t go down without a fight.  Also watch for Amir Carlisle, an undrafted free agent from Notre Dame.

Carlisle can play.  If he doesn’t make the final 53-mad roster in September, I would be very surprised to at least not see him on the practice roster.

Not to discount the other receivers on the roster such as Chris Hubert, Chris King, and Jeff Beathard, although I practically am here, however they are likely playing for a spot on another roster this summer.

The receiving core may not be this clear cut after the 2017 season if Fitz decides to hang it up and/or Floyd gets moved to another team.  I believe someday soon John Brown and J.J. Nelson will be at the top of this depth chart.  Who will be with them will be the big question.

There are 11 receivers on the roster right now.  The Cardinals might keep six but they are so deep at other positions, it might be hard to keep that many.

For now though we know the top five receivers and that may be just enough to keep the rest of the competition at bay.
