Arizona Cardinals linebacker Chandler Jones was named the 48th player of the 2016 season.

The second Cardinal has made his appearance on the NFL Top 100 players of the 2016 season list. Linebacker Chandler Jones made his first appearance on the Top 100 list for the stellar season he had last year with the New England Patriots.

Jones’ monster 2015/20116 is a major reason as to why the Cardinals traded for him and why he was voted the 48th best player in the NFL. In his last season in a Patriots uniform, Jones racked up 44 combined tackles, 12.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles in 15 games played.

Some of the things mentioned about Jones is how he was the total package and how could be both a pass rusher and a run stopper. Houston Texans cornerback Charles James II stated the Patriots would regret trading Jones and how the Arizona defense will continue to improve with the addition of 2015 Pro Bowler. Meanwhile, Washington Redskins defensive tackle, Trent Williams said Jones was an outstanding talent and will terrorize the league for years to come.

It’s exciting that one of the newest Cardinals acquisitions is on the steady rise to become one of the league’s best. It is unknown as to whether or not Jones can match the production that he had in New England in the desert.

What is known is that Jones’ presence on the field alone will elevate the play of the defense. With Jones being able to play the role of both pass rush and linebacker, the Cardinals defense will have the chance to capitalize on the offense being caught off guard.

With 40 spots still to be named, expect a handful of Cardinals to crack the top 20 of the Top 100 Players of 2016 list.
