Arizona Cardinals profiles: Durell Eskridge
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals are two weeks away from opening training camp in Glendale
We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. The next stop is training camp on July 28th.
In this profile we look at safety Durell Eskridge. He is a one-year player out of Syracuse.
2015: Eskridge definitely had an interesting season last year. He started the campaign out with the New York Jets. He was signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2015 NFL Draft.
He was in the Jets rookie minicamp but didn’t do mcuh else with his time in New York. He found his next call to be the Cardinals in October of last season.
He spent a couple of months on the Cardinals practice roster before being activated for the last couple of games. He did not play.
2016: The Cardinals must have liked what they saw as they signed Eskridge to a futures contract after the season ended in January. He is one of 10 safeties on the current roster.
Chances are slim that Eskridge will be around, at least on the active 53-man roster, once the season begins. Stranger things have happened.
A lot of what happens with Eskridge will no doubt hinge on his performance in camp but also on the health of the other safeties.
I do not think Eskridge will be here once the season starts but you never know. With 10 guys fighting for likely four to five spots, his chances are not good.
