The Arizona Cardinals have opened training camp in Glendale

We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we have now reached the start of training camp. Players had their first practice on Friday afternoon.

In this profile we look at cornerback Trevon Hartfield.  He is a rookie out of Southwestern Oklahoma State.

2015: Hartfield was a first-team All-Great American Conference selection in 2015.  The small-school star played for his third school.  He had five interceptions last season to go along 25 passes defensed.

2016: The jury is out right now on just how he fits.  He is fairly quick.  He ran a 4.4 40 in his pro day back in March.  He is listed at 6-0, 180 lbs.  He can also be a star on special teams as a kick returner.

After the first day of camp, fans are already taking notice of Hartfield.  In this situation, that’s a good thing.

Could Hartfield be a practice squad possibility?  Maybe.  The Cardinals will likely have 15-20 guys you could make a case for the squad but are only going to be able to keep 10 and some likely won’t even be guys they had in camp.

Hartfield will need to have more than one impressive day in camp to get noticed.  He will get his opportunities though to show Cardinals coaches what he has.  He happens to play a position that has some uncertainty right now, so now is the best time to take advantage.
