The Arizona Cardinals held their annual Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday
No one is going to mistake the Arizona Cardinals training camp crowd at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale on Sunday for that of what showed up at Lambeau Field last weekend for the Green Bay Packers. However the crowd on Saturday in Glendale was big nonetheless.
The Cardinals held their Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday in front of over 25,000 people. It was a record for the annual event. Last week the Packers had a sell-out crowd of over 70,000 people.
This was one of the big reasons why the Cardinals moved their training camp to Glendale down the hill from Flagstaff so they could enjoy these larger crowds. They would never have been able to accommodate 25,000 people at Northern Arizona University. The crowd was a training camp record for the Cardinals.
Fans braved the heat to stand in line outside to get inside the stadium. The star of the scrimmage was receiver Jaron Brown. He is in a battle with Brittan Golden, Jaxon Shipley, and Chris Hubert for one of the last receiver spots on the 53-man roster.
The Cardinals will be off on Sunday, no practice. The next scheduled practice will be on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium. Practices will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week. There will be no practice on Thursday ahead of Friday’s preseason opener at home against the Oakland Raiders.
