All four of the Arizona Cardinals quarterbacks made it into the first preseason game

The Arizona Cardinals stuck to their game plan on Friday night in the 31-10 loss to the Oakland Raiders as far as quarterbacks go.  Despite the scoreboard, the Cardinals gave playing time to all four quarterbacks on the current roster.

At times the play was sloppy and at times it looked like the quarterbacks were in mid-season form.  It all depends on which quarterback you are discussing.

Carson Palmer started the game and Jake Coker mopped things up at the end.  Drew Stanton and Matt Barkley also saw playing time Friday night.

Although he hasn’t announced it, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians likely will follow a similar plan next Friday evening against the San Diego Chargers, as far as the quarterback play goes.

Overall there were some bright spots but also clearly a lot to work on over the next three weeks as the Cardinals continue their camp and preseason.  The Cardinals will practice in San Diego next week ahead of the game on Friday night.

Now a look at how each of the four quarterbacks fared on Friday night.  Keep in mind again this was just the first preseason game.  There is still time to see improvement.  After the loss, there is still no clear cut leader between Barkley and Coker for the third quarterback spot.

Of course there is no guarantee that the Cardinals will even keep three quarterbacks. There are rumors that the Cardinals may only keep two quarterbacks in the regular season.
