The Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots have announced their inactives for the Sunday night’s game

The Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots have submitted their inactives list ahead of Sunday night’s game at University of Phoenix Stadium.  For the Patriots not many surprises.  The Cardinals list includes mostly healthy scratches.

The Cardinals are deep at a lot of positions, so it is no surprise that they had to make some of their healthy players sit Sunday night.  It had to be a tough decision to sit some of these guys.

Cardinals inactives:

S Marqui Christian

RB Stepfan Taylor

G Cole Toner

NT Xavier Williams

DT Ed Stinson

DT Olsen Pierre

LB Kareem Martin

Taylor and Martin are not surprises.  Both were injured near the end of the preseason.  Taylor injured his knee and Martin has an MCL injury suffered in the last week of preseason.

Toner and Christian are both rookies drafted by the Cardinals in the 2016 NFL Draft.  I expect both to get some playing time this season at some point.

Stinson, Williams and Pierre are part of a deep defensive line, so we knew someone would have to sit.  Williams had a good training camp.

For the Patriots, we know about their injuries.  Here is their list.

Patriots inactives:

T Nate Solder

TE Rob Gronkowski

G Jonathan Cooper

LB Elandon Roberts

CB Eric Rowe

RB D.J. Roster

TE Clay Harbor

This means there are two anticipated reunions that won’t happen.  The Cardinals will not get to play against Cooper, who was traded for Chandler Jones back in March. Also, for Arizona State fans, former standout Foster will be inactive.
