Arizona Cardinals vs Los Angeles Rams: Inactives
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals face the Los Angeles Rams Sunday afternoon in Glendale
The Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams announced their inactives ahead of Sunday’s game at University of Phoenix Stadium. For the Cardinals, they will have some healthy scratches.
The Cardinals seem to be taking the same route with their 2016 first round pick in defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche as they did with their first round pick in 2015, tackle D.J. Humphries. Nkemdiche is inactive on Sunday despite being deemed healthy earlier in the week. He practiced in full.
Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was asked if the Cardinals would play him this week if he was healthy. He said there was a good chance. Apparerntly not good enough.
Also inactive for the Cardinals on Sunday are punter Drew Butler, cornerback Brandon Williams, guard Cole Toner, and defensive tackles Frostee Rucker, Xavier Williams, and Olson Pierre. It is an interesting move benching Williams. Just two weeks ago he was the starter but Marcus Cooper has emerged as the go to guy at corner opposite Patrick Peterson.
As for the Rams, their incatives include cornerback Coty Sensabaugh, tackle Jamon Brown, reciver Nelson Spruce, offensive lineman Pace Murphy, receiver Pharoh Cooper, quarterback Sean Mannion, abnd defensive lineman William Hayes. With Mannion on the bench, that means Jared Goff will be the backup to Case Keenum.
As for the Cardinals, once again their depth on the defensive line is evident with four of their seven inactive players coming from the position. Linebacker Kareem Martin will be active for the first time this season. He was injured in the final preseason game. Initial reports had him out 6-8 weeks.
