Arizona Cardinals trail Saints 24-20 at halftime
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints had an interesting first half
At first it looked like this could be a shootout. After the Arizona Cardinals got on the board on their first drive, once again, they stalled for the rest of the first half.
The New Orleans Saints? Quarterback Drew Brees already has three touchdown passes, including a 65-yard touchdown strike to receiver Brandin Cooks.
The Saints also have been able to run the ball without much issue. The Cardinals defense looked slow at times.
The ironic part of it all? The Cardinals second score was on defense. Defensive tackle Calais Campbell, in possibly his last game with the Cardinals, scored his first NFL touchdown after a Markus Golden sack of Brees.
Other than the first touchdown, which was a Kerwynn Williams 49-yard “wildcat” run, the Cardinals have done very little else on offense. For some reason, the Cardinals have put running back David Johnson more at wideout today.

The Cardinals looked very uninspired at times. Although the Cardinals did look like they had a little more urgency at the end of the first half as quarterback Carson Palmer hit receiver J.J. Nelson for a touchdown pass.
The Cardinals hopefully are able to work on some defensive adjustments at halftime. The Cardinals should easily be handling this Saints team.
The Saints will get the ball to start the second half as they won the pre-game coin toss and deferred. The Cardinals defense needs a stop to start the half to get their offense back on the field.
As expected this is a high-scoring game. This looks more like a final score right now but at least it is great entertainment from both teams.
The team with the ball last may be the one who wins this matchup. It would be nice to see the Cardinals defense tighten up a little though.
