Arizona Cardinals: Scouting combine could lead to meeting needs
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals have a few areas they will be paying attention to this offseason
The NFL Scouting Combine takes place next weekend Friday March 3rd through Monday March 6th. The Arizona Cardinals and the football world will be watching.
The big question is who will the Cardinals be watching? There is no question one of the positions is going to be quarterback.
Deshone Kizer, DeShaun Watson, Pat Mahomes, Mitch Trubisky. Will one one of them end up being available come time for the Cardinals to make the 13th pick of the first-round of the 2017 NFL Draft?
Will the Cardinals pass on a quarterback early even if one of the big ones are there on the big board? Possibly. It would be difficult I think to pass on one.

The Cardinals will also be looking for secondary help and maybe even linebacker early. The Cardinals can afford to pass on receivers or backs until later in the draft. Rumors are they would like to add depth to both however.
Linebacker Reuben Foster out of Alabama would look nice in a Cardinals uniform but as NFL.com’s 6th rated prospect, it is high unlikely he will still be around at 13.
So that’s what makes this combine important next weekend. The Cardinals will look at linebacker but is there another guy they want early in the draft? Florida’s Jarrad Davis is the next highest rated linebacker at number 30. Maybe the Cardinals can get lucky to get him in the second round?
What makes the combine great though is that you can find out more about the person and how they tick. It is a great place to find guys you’d be interested in as depth guys, not necessarily an immediate NFL starter.
You can mock draft all you want. It likely won’t turn out the way you and I guess it will. Its the unknown that makes this process exciting.
