Obi Melifonwu had a combine performance that won’t soon be forgotten

If the Cardinals choose to address the cornerback position in free agency, there’s a good chance they use the draft to fill the safety stop. Then, there’s Obi Melifonwu, who can play pretty much anywhere he wants.

First off, Melifonwu is experienced, having started for four seasons at Connecticut. He plays fast, and with good ball skills, and in 2016 he had four interceptions. He’s also a good tackler, and uses his size well.

As far as the Combine goes, few have ever blown it away like Melifonwu did. At 6’4″ and 224 pounds, he grabbed all the attention by crushing the workout. Even at his size, he ran a 4.40 second 40-time, had a 44 inch vertical jump, and a mind-blowing 11’9″ broad jump. He looked fluid in the drills, and might have played himself into a top 20 pick.
