Arizona Cardinals: Receiver choice is Mike Williams
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals could be looking for a receiver in this year’s NFL Draft
We know who the fans want the Arizona Cardinals to select as their future quarterback in Patrick Mahomes. They also voted on which receiver they’d like to see the team select.
The winner of Raising Zona poll on Twitter was Mike Williams. Williams, out of Clemson, picked up 65 percent of the poll. Corey Davis from Western Michigan was a distant second at 20 percent.
It should come as no surprise that fans want a Clemson receiver. Not only is he a projected first rounder, he is from a football program that has suddenly appeared to have a line directly to Phoenix. Cbssports.com has him as the 18th overall best player available, second at receiver behind Davis.
Clemson is represented on the Cardinals roster by three players. Receiver Jaron Brown, running back Andre Ellington, and kicker Chandler Catanzaro.

Brown is still recovering from a torn ACL, so there is one reason the Cardinals may go after a receiver in the draft. Ellington is likely to leave and Catanzaro may be pushed by competition in camp or even prior to that.
As for Williams, he caught 98 passes for 1,361-yards and 11 touchdowns during the 2016 season. If the Cardinals pass him at number 13, he is going to be gone before their next turn is up.
Williams is a guy that would not be considered a stretch, unlike Mahomes, at number 13. The big question is do the Cardinals consider Williams the 13th best or better player in the draft?
If they miss on Williams, Davis is also a viable candidate to be selected at number 13. He had 97 receptions for 1,500-yards and 19 touchdowns in 2016. Honestly, I don’t think the Cardinals could go wrong with either player. I just can’t see them grabbing a receiver that high in the draft.
