Linebacker Dont’a Hightower would be a terrific addition to the Cardinals

The best linebacker, and maybe the best player, still available in free agency is Dont’a Hightower. The former New England Patriot has proven himself to be a valuable player that could not only replace Kevin Minter, but could be a huge upgrade.

Hightower was a first round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He immediately earned a starting spot and has been an important piece of the pie in New England since. He particularly excels as a blitzer, and has proven to be a good tackler in the run game. His numbers don’t show his full value.

In 2016, Hightower made his first Pro Bowl, and won his second Super Bowl ring. He’s going to command a big payday this off-season, which is partly why he is still available. The Cardinals could wind up with a hole at inside linebacker, and having a player the caliber of Hightower could make a huge difference on defense.
