Arizona Cardinals: Free agency grades
By Scott Allen
Jermaine Gresham
A little surprised at the four-year deal but the Cardinals could have done worse here. His 2016 production did improve over 2015, his first season with the team.
It would seem as if the Cardinals valued his 37-receptions a little more than some. After getting one-year deals each of the last two-years, the Cardinals gave him a four-year deal this time.
There were other tight ends on the market but being able to re-sign your own should not be understated. To that end, the Cardinals saw Darren Fells leave on Saturday for the Detroit Lions.
There should be no question as to who the number one tight end for the Cardinals is now. The Cardinals looked to possibly have Fells be that guy but he was in the doghouse early in camp last season.
Gresham will be asked to do more with the receiving core in a time of transition and uncertainty. Hopefully he becomes a big target for Carson Palmer in 2017.
