Arizona Cardinals: Free agency grades
By Scott Allen
Antoine Bethea
After the losses of safeties Tony Jefferson and D.J. Swearinger an addition here was necessary. The Cardinals wasted no time in adding Bethea on Thursday, the first day of free agency.
Sure, Bethea is 32 but he has 11-years of NFL experience. He can still play the game at a high-level. With so few options to replace a departed Jefferson, this was a very good answer.
Bethea is very familiar with Bruce Arians as well. He was with the Indianapolis Colts for the first eight-years of his career. He spent the last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
He started all 16 games for the 49ers last season. He had 110 tackles, three passes defensed, and one interception. He has 61 career passes defensed and 19 career interceptions.
He is a guy that can mentor the younger players, players such as Christian Bryant and Trevon Hartfield. You can never understate the value of a guy like that on your team.
