Former Cardinal Anquan Boldin could be what the Arizona Cardinals need to strengthen the passing game.

Though a reunion with the Arizona Cardinals is unlikely, former pass-catcher Anquan Boldin could be what the Cardinals’ passing game needs. The Cardinals are undoubtedly going to turn to the draft to find Larry Fitzgerald’s successor. Boldin, going into year 15, would likely only play for one season. The signing of Boldin, however, would bring size and leadership to a young receiving corps.

Outside of Fitzgerald and Jaron Brown, who is returning from an ACL tear, the Cardinals have no established big-bodied receiver to target inside the red-zone. Boldin could give Jaron Brown more time to recover from injury, and a rookie more time to learn the playbook.

In his one season as a Detroit Lion, Boldin led the team with eight touchdowns, and had five catches of more than 20 yards. Boldin also posted two 1,000 yard seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He also had three seasons with between 800-1,000 yards with the Baltimore Ravens. Even with these career accomplishments, his greatest tenure was with the Cardinals as he posted five 1,000 yard seasons.

"I might bang the table for Anquan Boldin, because I think of all those guys, he gets the least respect for how great he is. – Kurt Warner"

Former teammate and Hall of Famer Kurt Warner believes Anquan Boldin will one day enter the Hall of Fame. “I might bang the table for Anquan Boldin, because I think, of all those guys, he gets the least respect for how great he is,” Warner said in a recent interview. Boldin is 14th all-time in receiving yards with 13,779 and is tied for 23rd with 82 touchdown receptions in his career. Boldin is also a member of the exclusive 1,000 catch club.

With the return of Karlos Dansby, and uncertainty regarding the health of John Brown (sickle cell trait) and Jaron Brown, it could make sense for Steve Keim and the Cardinals to bring in another prodigal son to help chase a Super Bowl. It would be extra nice to win a championship with Boldin and Fitzgerald together at receiver again.
