Arizona Cardinals: All I Want for Draftmas
By Jeremy Meek
Unless Marshon Lattimore falls, cornerback just doesn’t have the value
It’s obvious that the Cardinals need a cornerback. Last season, they had to go out and get Marcus Cooper to start, and it worked out somewhat, but he’s now gone. They have one of the league’s best in Patrick Peterson, but a number two guy is badly needed for the future.
As of last week, value dictated that pair of Ohio State corners were the only ones I rated high enough to be worth the 13th pick. Marshon Lattimore is likely going to be off the board in the top ten, and Gareon Conley’s stock is shot due to off the field issues.
Marlon Humphrey is a really good player. He has good size, plays physically, and he ran well at the combine. However, he struggled down the field on tape, and 13th might simply be too high.
Based on my board, Conley was the only cornerback worthy of being picked by the Cardinals at 13, barring a Lattimore drop. With his situation in doubt, and due to the fact that the second round will have a number of good options, Arizona should just wait for secondary help.
