The Arizona Cardinals have a second and third round selection to make on Friday evening in Philadelphia

The Arizona Cardinals went defense in the first round.  They may do so on Friday in the second and third rounds as well but some interesting names are still available on both sides of the ball.

On defense, standouts such as Colorado’s Chidobe Awuzie at cornerback is still on the board.  So is cornerback Kevin King from Washington.

On offense, Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer is still there for the taking.  Running Back Dalvin Cook is still there.  However I would expect both players to be gone by the time the Cardinals selection comes up.

Realistically, the Cardinals should still have some guys that can help them who will be there when their turn is up. They will again have the 13th pick of the round at number 45 overall.

Could they go receiver?  There has been a lot of talk about going receiver.  Maybe Curtis Samuel from Ohio State?

Cornerback is another spot I would expect the Cardinals to address before the weekend is out. Fabian Moreau from UCLA has size at 6’0.  He does have an injury history, so there is that to contend with.

Also don’t rule out cornerback Teez Tabor from Florida.  His name came up in connection with the Cardinals during the last couple of months.

As for the third round, if they wanted to search out a running back, there are a number of good options.  Donnel Pumphrey from San Diego State, James Connor from Pittsburgh, D’Onta Foreman from Texas all could make an immediate impact.

If they wanted to wait for a quarterback until the third round, they could take a chance on California’s Davis Webb or Miami’s Brad Kaaya.  If defense is the way they want to go in the third round Colorado cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is an intriguing option.

Then again, they’ll likely end up going in a direction we never saw coming.  The joys of the NFL Draft.
