The Arizona Cardinals have made their fifth round selection of the 2017 NFL Draft

With two fifth round picks on the docket for the Arizona Cardinals, they have made the first of those two selections at number 157 overall.  They went offensive line again, this time Will Holden, tackle from Vanderbilt.

The Cardinals clearly are trying to build a young nucleus on the offensive line.  They took Pittsburgh’s Dorian Johnson earlier Saturday.

Last season the Cardinals took Cole Toner and Evan Boehm.  To go along with D.J. Humphries, the Cardinals are setting up an offensive line that could pay dividends for years to come.

As for Holden, many had him going in the third or fourth round, so he could end up being a steal. He stands tall at 6’7, 311.  That’s a big man.

With the injuries and the age catching up on guys like Jared Veldheer and Mike Iupati, the Cardinals were clearly concerned with making sure they had an offensive line in place ready to go once they are done.

Solid indeed.  It seems people are high on Holden.  You can never go wrong trying to build an offensive line to replace the one you have in the next couple of years.  The Cardinals will need a good line to protect whoever eventually replaces quarterback Carson Palmer.
